Cuttack: The National Sports Day & commencement ceremony of Sports Activities for the current academic session atSri Sri University was inaugurated on the 29th of August 2023. The ceremony was graced by Shri Dinesh Mongia, Former player of Indian Cricket team who is holding the position of coach of Odisha Ranji Trophy Team as the chief guest.
The event was attended by the Prof(Dr) B.R. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Sri University , Swami Satya Chaitanyaji, Director Operations, and Captain(IN) Chandra Shekhar Panda, Directorate Student Affairs.
Captain (IN) Chandrasekhar Panda, addressed the audience on importance of the National Sports Day and welcomed the chief guest. The ceremony portrayed the values and ethics of National Sports Day, in the memory of the birthday of Major Dhyan Chanda, the legendary Hockey Player. The inauguration ceremony of the Colllympics the intra University Sports event was installed, by the Chief Guest.
Trophies were awarded by Shri Dinesh Mongia to twelve Emerging Sports Persons of Sri Sri University for the achievement of different sports events in the previous years. He also felicitated the team members of the newly formed Sports Council.
Mr Sandeep – Jt. Secretary, Sports Council of Sri Sri University briefed on the importance of sports in the life of student and remembered the contribution of alumni to add the sports achievement of the university. Mr Swami Satyachaitanya, Director (Operations) spoke on the importance of sports to build the career.
The Chief Guest, Mr Dinesh Mongia delivered an inspirational speech and advised students to give stress on internal change then the external sophistication. Prof (Dr) B.R.Sharma, Vice-Chancellor advised students to inculcate the habit of playing some sports to keep themselves fit both mentally and physically. The function was culminated with reciting of National Anthem.
