The the first-ever university in the Ladakh region would be launched, an official announcement said here. Established under the University of Ladakh Act 2018, it will be a cluster University comprising of degree colleges of Leh, Kargil, Nubra, Zanskar, Drass and Khaltsi.

Mr Modi would lay the foundation stones of two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur and Awantipora.

He would also lay the foundation stone of northern regional centre campus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Jammu, a PMO release said.

The PM would also digitally launch various projects under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

He would unveil plaques via video-conference to lay foundation stones of 54 new model degree colleges, 11 professional colleges and one women’s university in the country.

Facilities for launch of Rural BPO, Bandipora will be also inaugurated. This will enhance employment opportunities for the youth in Bandipora and neighbouring districts.

In Srinagar, Prime Minister will interact with students from the states of Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, Maharashtra and Telangana.

Prime Minister last visited Jammu, Srinagar and Leh on May 19 last year.

Meanwhile, media reports suggest in what can be seen as a provocative act on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir, within days of India snubbing him for talking to Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday telephoned another Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and “discussed” situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports in a section of Pakistani media said the proposed Kashmir Conference of London on February 4-5 were also discussed.

At Multan in Pakistan on Saturday, Mr Qureshi said Pakistan was ready to work with next Indian government in case it wants to work with Islamabad.

Talking to the media, he has said the elections in India was internal matter and Pakistan had ‘neither’ interfered in its internal matters nor it intends to do so.

On his talks with separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, he said, ?I had an exchange of views with Mirwaiz. India should not make it an issue.?

In view of Prime Minister’s visit, a  multi-tier security arrangement has been put in place across Jammu and Kashmir
