Bloomberg Fintech Lab: In just a month since its launch, the Bloomberg Fintech Lab at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) has quickly emerged as a hub for multidisciplinary learning and financial market research. The state-of-the-art facility is the first of its kind in Rajasthan and among private universities in North India, offering students and faculty access to globally recognized financial tools and data analytics resources.
More than 200 participants — including over 100 faculty members and an equal number of students from departments such as Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Journalism, and Engineering — have already earned Bloomberg certifications. These include the Bloomberg Market Concepts Certificate, Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals Certificate, and the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Certificate. With the new academic session approaching, many incoming students are eager to take advantage of the advanced Fintech lab facilities.
Prof. N. N. Sharma, President of Manipal University Jaipur, expressed his satisfaction with the lab’s early success. He emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering quality research and innovation. “At Manipal University Jaipur, we are building a robust ecosystem equipped with advanced research infrastructure to empower our students and scholars. The Bloomberg-powered Fintech Lab is a significant addition to this ecosystem, designed to promote interdisciplinary research in financial markets and technology,” he stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Brajesh Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts (FoMCA) at MUJ, outlined the university’s future vision for the lab. “Our aim is to establish thought leadership in financial literacy and research. In line with this, we are set to launch the Bloomberg Finance Research Analyst program for both students and corporate professionals. This initiative, delivered through our Executive and Management Development Programs (EDP/MDP), is planned for rollout this summer,” he announced.
The university has also prioritized capacity building for its teaching staff. All faculty members underwent comprehensive training in both online and offline formats through a ‘Train the Trainer’ initiative. These sessions, supported by industry professionals and Bloomberg experts, provided hands-on experience with Bloomberg’s powerful financial tools and analytics capabilities. Topics covered included market monitoring, basic navigation, and essential functions for equity, fixed income, and economic research.
This training has not only enhanced the faculty’s expertise but also enabled them to bring real-time market insights into the classroom, offering students an invaluable experiential learning environment. By integrating advanced financial technology tools into academic programs, the Fintech Lab is poised to significantly elevate the quality of education and research at MUJ.
As Manipal University Jaipur continues to position itself as a leader in interdisciplinary financial education, the Bloomberg Fintech Lab stands as a testament to the institution’s forward-looking vision and commitment to academic excellence.
