In a significant step at bolstering the fight against the COVID-19 menace in the state, the chief minister Naveen Patnaik has on Thursday made the announcement that, the lockdown, that was earlier dead-lined till April 14, remains extended to April 30.
The chief minister took serious note of the escalating situation on COVID in the state and told that, in order to maintain the ‘social distancing’ norm to ward off any further spread of the virus, the government felt it imperative that, the lockdown should continue till April end.
The decision was made public by the CM after an important cabinet meeting headed by the latter.
The CM said that all the schools and colleges shall remain closed till June 17 2020 in view of the COVID-19.
He clarified that, all the necessary measures aimed at providing the financial and other succor like food and ration will continue and the government would ensure uninterrupted supply of commodities required by the people.
He however, laid the emphasis on the social distancing as the principal tool to contain the spread of the COVID-19.
Patnaiik said that, he has also requested the Prime Minister to extend the nationwide lockdown in view of the looming menace of the Coronavirus in India.
