Wish to shoot a film at an Indian heritage sites? Or host a cultural event on its premises? Government of India had made the permission process easier for you.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in New Delhi has decided to decentralise its monopoly over issue of permission for filming, photo-shooting and mounting cultural events at ASI-managed 3600 protected monuments across the country.
ASI’s decision follows the announcement of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture made during July last to issue permission for film shooting within 15 to 20 days of the receipt of applications.
“All the Superintendent Archaeologists of ASI Circles and Deputy Superintendent Archaeologists of Mini-Circles are hereby delegated powers to issue online permissions for filming, photography, copying, documentation, and holding cultural events at the centrally protected monuments or sites with the prescribed fee,” the order issued by the ASI stated.
Delegation of power apart, the provision of issue of online permissions has made the process simpler, faster and easier. The applicants would not be required anymore to come to New Delhi to avail permission from the Director General of ASI, the officials maintained.
ASI has 36 Circles and Mini-Circles across 28 Indian states and eight Union Territories.
