International Conference: With the active participation of more than 200 participants from 22 states of Indian and 5 different countries the 3 day “4th International Conference on Physical Education and Sports Sciences” kicked off at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ), Rajasthan. The inaugural ceremony took place on November 1, 2023, in Smt. Vasanti R Pai Auditorium in MUJ campus. The Indian Wrestler and an Arjuna Awardee Ms. Geetika Jakhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Yvonne Paul, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Science, Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa joined the conference as the Guest of Honour.
The conference brought together the academicians, physical educationists, sports scientists, nutritionists, psychologists, physiotherapists, coaches, yoga experts, policy makers, and researchers on a common platform.
The event began with the lamp lightening ceremony by all the esteemed dignitaries of the event. Dr G K Prabhu, President, MUJ, Commodore (Dr) Jawahar M. Jangir, Pro-President, MUJ, Dr. Nitu Bhatnagar, Registrar, Dr Komal Audichya, Dean-Faculty of Arts, Dr. Reena Poonia, Director, Directorate of Sports, MUJ and Chief Guest Ms Geetika Jakharlighted the lamp. Thenthe guests are felicitated by the university authorities.
Dr Komal Audichya, welcomed all through her welcome address. Later Dr. Nitu Bhatnagar, Registrar, MUJ enlightened the gathering by highlighting the achievements of Manipal University Jaipur and its journey so far. The chief guest Ms. Geetika Jakhar motivated all through her inspirational speech. She talked about her life journey and the cheers and chagrins of her athletic career. Her speech was followed by an encouraging note by Dr G K Prabhu, President, MUJ. Prof. Jawahar Jangir emphasised on the importance of sports and its correlation with life. Dr. Reena Poonia delivered the vote of thanks.
The inaugural session was followed by plenary sessions. Prof. Anil Ramchandran, Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, Kannur University and Dr. Yvonne Paul, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Science, Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa were the keynote speakers. Prof. Nishan Singh Deol, Professor Department of Physical Education, Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab, and Dr Gagnendu Das, Director General, School of Sports and Yoga Science, KIIT deemed University, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha chaired the sessions.
Further in the subsequent theretechnical sessions, various participants of the conference presented their papers on topics such as Youth Development and Sports Management, Sports Medicine and Sports Injuries, and Health Sports Performance, Doping and Research Ethics.
The 1st day of the conference came to an end with the cultural program organised by MUJ with the active participation of the students.In this 3-day international conference there will be 11 technical sessions. More than 45 national and 5 international resource persons will share their knowledge with the participants. A free of cost yoga workshop for all the participants, plenary sessions and panel discussions are some of the key attractions of the conference.
