Srinagar, Dec 26: BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav said on Thursday that the Jammu and Kashmir government will take appropriate decision from time to time to release political leaders detained after the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is an ongoing process and several people have been released from house arrests and preventive detention,” Madhav said at a press conference in Srinagar. “Administration based on security assessment will take appropriate decision from time to time.”
About the restoration of the internet in Kashmir, he said the internet (broadband) has been restored including in some hotels.
However, when the reporters refuted his claim, the senior BJP leader said the restoration of the broadband is ‘subject to security assessment’.
About severe power crisis in Kashmir, he said the Centre was conscious of the acute electricity shortage faced by the people of Kashmir and is in touch with the state administration for resolving this issue.
“We want people should get round the clock electricity,” he said. “The J&K government is working hard to ensure adequate power supply in Kashmir.”
He said misinformation is being spread across the country about the National Register for Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
“I want to tell the people of the country that the Citizenship Amendment Act is not against anybody and doesn’t discriminate with Muslims,” he said. “It is just to give citizenship to some people who have been persecuted elsewhere.”
He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that no discussion has taken place about NRC.
He said NRC is a routine exercise while as NPR is an extension of the countrywide census.
He also rejected the allegation that the UP police dealt with protesters with highhandedness.
He said he was in Kashmir to watch a football match being played between Real Kashmir and Chennai city in Srinagar.
He said he was happy that Real Kashmir won Thursday’s match by scoring two goals while as Chennai city scored just one goal.
