Bhubaneswar, Sep 14 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the Inspector in charge of the police station across the state to treat the common man with respect. The complaints coming to the police stations must be treated professionally, morally and with all humanity, Mr.Patnaik said while interacting with 635 Inspector-in- Charge of Police stations through video conferencing.
The Chief Minister interacted with the police officials on the important aspects of ” Mo Sarkar” scheme scheduled to be implemented in the state from October 2 next. “Common people are the real government. My government is their government. The administration and the police stations are running with their money” Mr Patnaik said, adding that “it is our moral duty to treat them with respect.”
Mr Patnaik said he would talk with ten complainants coming to Police stations every day beginning from October 2 next and would inquire how they were treated and what kind of behaviour they were shown in Police stations. The Chief Minister said Police officials will be appreciated and he will give the letter of appreciation to the police official on the views of the people. He also warned that action would be taken if the work of the Police officials was not satisfactory.
Official sources said depending on the reactions of the people out of turn promotions would be given to Police personnel of a Police station. Every month Mo Sarkar award would be presented for good work in 5T in district level and the interdepartmental award would be given at the state level. The Chief Minister said the phone number of every complainant would be registered and it would be made available to the right from the District Superintendents of Police up to the Chief Minister.
CM said in ” Mo Sarkar” Programme, a citizen will not have to run after the government for any service. Rather the government will contact the complainants and provide good service. The women complainants will be given priority, he said. The Chief Minister said the government was trying to bring a change in the functioning of the administration right from the top to bottom through the “Mo Sarkar” programme.
He said earlier Police have achieved significant success in countering the left-wing extremists, managing the Hockey World Cup, Car festival and hoped that the Police would also successfully implement the Mo Sarkar programme in the state. Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said Police officers should think themselves as servants of the people and provide good service to people using modern technology. Odisha DGP B K Sharma advised the Police officers to treat the complainants with respect in Police stations and handle the complaints with sympathy.
Secretary 5 T V K Pandian said Mo Sarkar is a major part of the 5 T programme. Odisha, he said is the first state in the country to adopt such a scheme. The Chief Minister, he said has decided to launch the Mo Sarkar programme in the first phase with the: Police stations and hospitals across the state from October 2 next. Subsequently, the programme will cover other departments.
