Chief minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has shot a letter, and rightly so, urging the Prime Minister to postpone the Census 2021 in view of the Coronavirus scare looming on.
The chief minister has cited the reasons behind saying that, the personnel those who shall be used for conducting the survey for the Census 2021 and up gradation of the National Population Register for the entire country would be exposed to any such infection when going from door to door interactions.
He has further expressed his concern that, in that exercise, spanning from April 1 to September, for which in India there shall be about 30 lakh enumerators may en-risk their health safety.
When the country is battling against the Corona virus, the CM added, the Census can be put on hold till the time the risks involved in COVID-19 are mitigated.
