Odisha government hints that it does’nt support NRC but welcome CAA

Bhubaneswar, 18/12: It is a peculiar situation in Odisha where the chief minister Naveen Patnaik, taking a binary position, has, reportedly,  expressed his support to the Citizens’ Ammendment Act 2019 but, at the same breath, Patnaik has told that his government is not going to support the NRC.

A stance which has ruffled the psyche of many in the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Odisha. This comes from the chief ,minister at a time when there is a growing perception in the political circles that, the Biju Janata Dal and the BJP are nothing less than allies and are working in tandem at all occasions since last five years at least.

But, Patnaik’s statement on CAA and his stand against the implementation of the NRC in India has created a great amount of confusion among the people in Odisha as well.

Although, so far, there is no reaction from the Central leadership of the BJP on what the Odisha chief minister of Odisha has said on NRC.

The BJD has supported the NDA on the CAA bill in the parliament recently but its stand over the NRC has left many political analysts wondering.
