The third case of COVID-19 surfaced from a local private clinic and the news obviously caught the headlines in many news channels and other platforms.
But, the disseminations went almost overboard to point the needle at the clinic, as if, that was a case of such virality for which the said private clinic, Kar Clinic, was the fall guy !
The patient had come to the hospital with certain illness related to fever and all that and may be certain exigencies led the hospital to admit him in the ICU. A routine case when a patient requires that care.
However, it was subsequently found that the said patient was COVID-19 positive and was advised to move to the designated hospital with the expertise to handle such a case.
Far removed from the crux that what was the history the patient had before coming clinic, and how he was infected and thus had come in contact with others including the hospital staff, news headlines went almost off the tangent to annihilate the credibility of the clinic by warning the people not to venture into that clinic, either outdoor or indoor.
Was it wisdom in hindsight?
If the man had traveled in Indigo Airlines and entered the city with rest all, the moot question is, how could he escape the routine medical scrutiny before reaching the Clinic! Or the city to say the least.
The clinic authority, talking to this site said that, “soon they came to know about the case, all the required isolation measures were enforced and the ones who had come in contact with the patient were advised isolation”.
The clinic, the sources added, has already gone on war footing to initiate all the measures deemed to disinfect the entire indoor and outdoor wings.
Where is the guideline for private hospitals
Besides, the patients in several wards viewed to be less intensive in their illness, have been asked to get themselves discharged barring the ones, who are indeed critical.
Whether a private clinic has the guidelines supplied by the State’s Health Ministry is not known.
Rather, an official spokesperson of the government was heard speaking in the television that, the ministry concerned is working out the guidelines for the private hospitals who in case stumble upon a COVID-19 case as it did happen with the clinic in question.
May be it is like shooting at the messenger and suddenly issuing a blanket ban of sorts asking people desist from going to the above clinic, one doesn’t know if there is adequate prudence in view of no official guideline in place, even so many days after the outbreak of Corona.
Any popular clinic, whichever it may be, has its image born out of people’s faith on it, and any such draconian imposition doesn’t augur well for an institution that enjoys a credibility of its own.
It would be fair if the ministry concerned deploys a team of experts to ascertain the safety restored by Kar Clinic and give it the clean chit through an advisory
