Tulsi Gabbard abstains from impeachment voting, Trump dubs impeachment as suicidal

While the  impeachment of the American President Donald Trump has obtained the accord of the House of  Representatives by a 229-198 votes, the real impeachment will get a clear picture after it goes to the Senate where the Republican Party has majority.

During the voting in the House of Representatives, the significant abstention was noticed when the Democratic representative Tulsi Gabbard kept herself out of the voting, sending signals over her intentiosn behind the abstention.

It may be recalled that, Gabbard has made it clear that she will be running for the next presidential election as the American President in 2020.

Trump calls it ‘ political suicide’

“This lawless, partisan impeachment is a political suicide march for the Democrat Party,” Trump said on Wednesday, addressing his supporters in the state of Michigan.

The US House of Representatives voted in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump on a charge of obstruction of Congress, the voting results showed.

Some 20 minutes before that, the House of Representatives also voted for impeaching Trump over alleged abuse of power.

The impeachment was supported in a 229-198 vote, with one abstention. The only lawmaker, who abstained from voting, is Tulsi Gabbard from the Democratic Party, who announced her intention to run for the presidency in 2020.

Almost all other members of the Democratic Party – which has the majority of seats in the lower chamber of the parliament – supported the impeachment on late Wednesday, while the Republican Party and three Democrats – Collin Peterson, Jeff Van Drew and Jared Golden – opposed the initiative.

The impeachment will be considered by the Senate, where the Republican Party has the majority of seats.
