72.33% students clear plus two science examination in Odisha

As many as 72.33 per cent of the total 97,750 students who have appeared for the annual plus two science examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Board in 2019 have passed.

Declaring the results here today, Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das said out of total 97,750 students 70,706 students have cleared the examination.

The Minister said, this year the pass percentage was 4.65 per cent less than the last year due to certain measures taken by the CHSE board like installation of CCTV in the examination centres to check copy and ensure quality education.

Mr Das said, though 40,058 boys passed this time against 30,648 girls but the pass percentage of girls was more than the boys.

The Minister said, while 70.4 per cent of boys passed the examination, the pass percentage of girls stood at 75.02 per cent.

He said, while 20,806 students passed the examination in first division, 23,904 passed in second division and 25,360 in third division.

Balasore district topped the list with 86.56 per cent and Gajapati district figured at the bottom of the list with a pass percentage of 36.20 per cent.

The Minister said, as many as nine colleges have zero results while 29 colleges have obtained 100 per cent results.

As many as 60 students have secured above 90 per cent marks against 41 students in last year.
