A day after Tollywood actor-cum-producer Prosenjit Chatterjee was asked to depose before the investigating agency pertaining to Rose Valley scam on July 19, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday also summoned actress Rituparna Sengupta to appear at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake in relation to the same case next week.
Sengupta was asked to appear to cooperate with the probing agency regarding the Rose Valley’s financial scandal. Sources said the summon was issued to Sengupta after the ED quizzed incarcerated Rose Valley boss Gautam Kundu in a prison recently.
They said the probing agency wanted to know if any fund was transacted to her account by the Kundu’s firms. The summons to the Tollywood celebrities happened close on the heels of the ED’s grilling of former Bengal minister Madan Mitra for over four hours in relation to Rose Valley money laundering scandals.
Actor Chatterjee, however, told reporters that so far he didn’t get any notice from the ED. Actor Chatterjee, however, told reporters that he would appear once he received the summon notice. It is said that the male actor’s firm has received funds from Rose Valley account.
” Yes once I get the notice, I will definitely cooperate with the investigating officers, ” the actor said. The ED during its probe found that fund had been transferred to the account of the actor.
The ED also questioned Ratna Chatterjee, the estranged wife of former Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) mayor and ex-minister Sovan Chatterjee, in connection with Rose Valley case. Chatterjee earlier on several occasions appeared before the ED on the same case.
In a fresh development the CBI probing the Saradha chit fund scam once again quizzed incarcerated Debjani Mukherjee at the Dum Dum Central jail after the central agency got the permission from a court order. The CBI on Monday appealed to the Barasat court in North 24 Parganas to grant a permission so that jailed Debjani Mukherjee could be questioned inside the prison in regard to Saradha chit fund scam.
Sudipto Sen and Debjani are the prime accused in Saradha scam.
In a separate case of Narada sting operation, senior IPS officer SMH Mirza today appeared before the investigating officers of CBI, which was also probing the scandal, in which 13 named persons, including several TMC ministers, MPs and MLAs, were accused.
This was the fourth time the senior IPS officer appeared before the CBI on Narada sting operation, which was done by journo Mathew Samuel in 2013.
The CBI aslo quizzed businessman Shivaji Panja over four hours in Saradha scam.
