Centre reconstitutes GoM on sexual harassment at workplace

The new government at the Centre under the leadership of Narendra Modi has reconstituted the Group of Ministers (GoM) to deal and prevent Sexual Harassment at Workplace, a Home Ministry official said here on Wednesday.

The reconstitution of GoM came into effect on July 18 with new members being Union Home Minister Amit Shah,Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani.

The Government had set up a ‘Group of Ministers’ to examine and give recommendations for strengthening the legal and institutional frameworks to deal with and prevent Sexual Harassment at Workplace in October, 2018.
The Group of Ministers undertook consultations with stakeholders and was examining various suggestions received.

“The Group of Ministers would continue to receive administrative support by Ministry of Home Affairs”, the Home Ministry officials said
