Cong to waive crop loan, provide special assistance to farmers, job to each member in family if voted to power in Odisha- Patnaik

The Odisha Congress today promised to waive the crop loan up to Rs two lakh per family, special incentives to farmers, job to one member in each family and

unemployment allowance within first ten days if the party voted to power in the state.

Releasing the party manifesto here Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik said loans repaid after March 31, 2018 will be reimbursed in eligible cases.

The PCC Chief said his party will give top priority to farmers welfare, women empowerment, youths, adivasi welfare, dalit rights, social security, education, health care, prohibition and food security.

If voted to power the Congress government would provide a special financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to every farming family annually for next three years, monthly pension of Rs 1500 per month to farmers above the age of 60, guaranteed remunerative prices for all major farm and forest produce.

He also promised to accept the recommendation of the Swaminathan Committee and would fix the MSP of paddy at Rs 2600 per quintal.

The procurement system in the state will be reformed to ensure that the farmers get the remunerative price for their produce and every farmers will have access to irrigation by 2024.

Patnaik said a Farmers income commission will be set up to ensure every farming family earns enough to meet its basic economic needs.

Patnaik said solar powered cold storages will be set up in every block and food parks will be set up in every district in public private partnership.

The Congress leader said a compreshensive and credible initiative will be taken within 100 days to curb alcoholism and to make the state liquor free in phases. (UNI)
