Congress president Rahul Gandhi says he has no hatred towards Modi, but has only love and affection

Averring that he has no hatred towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said he had love and affection for him and that he learnt from him.

Interacting with the students of Stella Mary’s College for Women in Chennai, Gandhi said that love was the foundation of every religion whether it was Hinduism, Islam or Christianity.

He said that he was watching the Prime Minister’s speech in Parliament in which he criticised “my father, grand mother, great grandfather and the Congress party”.

Observing that the Prime Minister did not have the love he wanted, Gandhi said he wanted to show affection and so he hugged him. “I don’t hate him…I learn from Modi’, he said.

“Do you hate the person who teaches you,” Gandhi asked the students, who replied with a big ‘No’.

Stating that the biggest teacher were the people who attack, Gandhi said, “the more you are attacked, the more you give love and affection back”.

Gandhi also took a dig at the BJP-led NDA government for allowing businessmen like Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and others, who have defrauded banks to the tune of several crores of rupees, to leave the country.

When he asked the students whether they liked demonetisaton, the students said a firm ‘No’.

“I think it’s pretty clear the damage demonetisaton did. The PM should have taken your advice”, he added.

To a question, he said it was in a way good that the UPA lost the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as it taught him several lessons.

On GST, he said if the Congress comes to power it would introduce uniform tax and it would be lower.
