The counting of votes for 21 Lok Sabha and 146 Assembly seats in Odisha will be held in 63 locations, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar said here today.

The counting of votes will start at 0800 hrs simultaneously for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.
About 6,700 personnel have been deployed in the state to count the votes.

Kumar said, each counting centre would have seven tables for Lok Sabha, seven tables for Assembly and one table for counting of Postal ballots.

He said, each table would have three officials— one counting supervisor, one assistant counting supervisor and one micro observer for smooth counting of votes.

The CEO said the Election Commission on the request of the state Chief Electoral officer has granted an addition 411 tables for the speedy counting of votes.

With the additional 411 tables, the number of tables for the counting of votes will be 2,462, he said.

Kumar said, Sambalpur will have the minimum 19 round of counting while Patnagarha will have the maximum of 49 round of counting.

This time so far one lakh Postal ballots including 43,357 service votes have been received against 31,326 in 2014.

Kumar said, more than 5,000 service votes have been received through electronic transfer from Bhadrak, Baragarh and Kalahandi.

The election results, he said might be delayed as counting of 5 VVPAT machines in each segment selected randomly has been made mandatory by the Supreme Court.

He said, CCTV will be installed and the counting process would be videographed to maintain transparency.

The CEO said, arrangement is being made to display the election in LED boards at different locations for the public. Black boards would be used in places where there would be problem in installing the LED boards, he said.
