The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in odisha has established an early lead in 78 Assembly seats while BJP is leading in 26 Assembly seats and the Congress in 8 seats.
In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJD and BJP are having a neck to neck contest as the former is leading in ten Lok sabha seats the BJP is leading in nine Lok Sabha seats.
In the Assembly Odisha Higher Education Ministers Ananta Das,Rural development Minister Bikram Arukh, Urban development Minister Niranjan Pujari, Energy Minister Sushant Singh, handloom Minister Snehangini Chhuria are leading.
In Lok Sabha BJP candidates Pratap Sharangi( Balasore),Basant Panda(Kalahandi),Nitish Gangdeb( Sambalpur),Abhinandan Sethy ( Bhadrak),Jual Oram ( Sundargarh), Aparajita Sharangi ( Bhubanesewar) , Dr.Sambit Oatra ( Puri ) and Rudra narayan Pani ( Dhenkanal) Ms Sanmgeta Singdeo( Bolangir) are leading against their rival BJD candidates.
On the other hand, BJD candidates Prasanna Acharya ( Bargarh), Achyut Samant(Kandhmal), Anubhav Mohanty ( Kendrapara), Pramila Bisoi ( Aska),Chandrani Murmu ( Keonjhar), Sharmistha Sethy ( Jajpur) Ramesh Chandra Majhi ( Nabarangpur), Koushalya hikaka ( Koraput )are having an early lead after the completion of second rounds of counting.
The early trends indicate that the BJP is marching ahead in both Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in the state compared to the last general elections. In 2014 elections, the party won only one Lok Sabha seat and 10 Assembly seats.
Among the Congress candidates, former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das is trailing in Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat, former Union Minister K P Singdeo is also trailing in Dhenkanal Lok Sabha seat and so is Mr.Pradeep Kumar Majhi in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat.
