France all set to host PM Modi for a bilateral summit with Prez Emmanuel : Envoy

France is all set to host a bilateral summit between President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi later on Thursday.

“Château de Chantilly is all set to host a bilateral summit b/w Prez Emmanuel Macron and PM Narendra Modi. Set in Hauts-de-France region (Oise) 60 kms from Paris, it’s one of the finest jewels in the crown of France’s cultural heritage,” tweeted French envoy to India Alexandre Ziegler.

Shaped from the Middle Ages to the 19th century by its various owners, the history of the Domain of Chantilly is closely intertwined with the history of France.

The Château was originally a fortified building constructed on a pile of rock in the marshlands of the Nonette river valley, controlling the road from Paris to Senlis.

The site comprises two attached buildings: the Petit Château built around 1560 for Anne de Montmorency, and the Grand Château, which was destroyed during the French Revolution and rebuilt in the 1870s.

Prime Minister Modi will be visiting Biarritz in France at the invitation of President Macron for the 2019 G-7 Summit as ‘Biarritz Partner’ on August 25 and 26.

During the Summit, Prime Minister is expected to speak in Sessions on Environment, Climate, Oceans and Digital Transformation.

On the sidelines, Prime Minister will be having bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries.

Prior to the G7 Summit, Prime Minister will be on an Official Visit to France on Thursday and Friday and hold bilateral meetings with the President Macron and Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.

Prime Minister would address the Indian community in Paris and also inaugurate the Memorial for the Indian victims of the Air India crashes at Nid D’Aigle.

India and France are Strategic Partners since 1998 and share a comprehensive, dynamic and multi-faceted relationship. Our two countries have strong cooperation in the fields of defence, maritime security, space, cyber, counter-terrorism, and civil nuclear energy along with robust trade and investment relations.

The bilateral visit to France and the invitation to G7 Summit are in keeping with the tradition of strong and close partnership and high level political contacts between India and France, an MEA statement said here.
