A five-year-old girl was traced through DARPAN application by Telangana State Police, a police statement here on Saturday said.

The girl was found after 2.2 years in Madhya Pradesh.

On January 4, 2017 a girl missing case was registered at Bahadurpura Police Station.
Later, it was transferred to CID for the further investigation.

The girl had left her residence at Bahadurpura police station limits, NM Guda, Hyderabad in January ‘2017.

With the help of entire details (DARPAN) developed by Telangana State Police, a 7-year girl has been traced at Ebenezer Education Society NGO of Shapur of Betul District of Madhya Pradesh state and restored to their family.

This girl was detected after 2 years of her missing, with the help of DARPAN Face Recognition Tool. This could be achieved by batch processing of photographs of Missing Persons (Telangana) and matching them with Persons found across the country.

The CID Police on getting a match contacted Prashanth, member of CWC, Butel of Madhya Pradesh, who confirmed the child’s presence. After ascertaining the details of the traced child. He confirmed the identity of the missing girl.
The CID police team informed to girl’s parents, together visited Betul of Madyapradesh. Later, the girl was reunited with her family.

This is the 18th case in which Darpan has united a missing Person with his/her family through remotely processing images available in the public domain

This is an example of how Artificial intelligence can be used to make things possible, which were inconceivable recently, a police statement said.
