Modi conferred with UAE's highest civilian award

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Saturday conferred with UAE’s highest civilian award — Order of Zayed — for enhancing the bilateral relations between India and the Gulf country.

Expressing gratitude for the award, Mr Modi said, ‘I feel very honoured and humbled to be conferred the UAE’s highest civil honour, the ‘Order of Zayed,’ a short while ago. It is testimony to our growing partnership. More than an individual, this award is for India’s cultural ethos and is dedicated to 130 crore Indians. I thank the UAE Government for this honour.’

A commemorative stamp of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, was also released, in the presence of government officials and Indian businesspersons.

The prestigious award has also been conferred on Chinese President XI Jinping in 2018 and on Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, way back in 2007.
