Nepal minister, among seven killed in chopper crash

Nepal Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Rabindra Adhikari and six others were killed, in a helicopter crash in Pathibhara, Taplejung on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 1330 hrs (local time), when minister along with officials was returning to Kathmandu after offering worship at Pathibhara temple, The Kathmandu post reported.

“The Air Dynasty helicopter was carrying Adhikari as well as Ang Tsering Sherpa, a prominent aviation and hospitality entrepreneur, and Yubaraj Dahal, personal aide to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Birendra Prasad Shrestha, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Dhurba Bhochhibhoya, deputy director of CAAN, and Arjun Kumar Ghimire, a Nepal army personnel. The helicopter was being flown by Captain Prabhakar KC,” an Air Dynasty official confirmed.

Nepal Police has identified all seven bodies at the accident site.

The Prime Minister’s Office and Council of Minister has called an emergency meeting at the official residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar.(UNI)
