In yet another show of extravaganza on eve of the International Yoga Day, Jharkhand going agog for a grandiose function to tell the people of the country as how important is Yoga. A mammoth security arrangement is underway for the occasion in Ranchi where the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be a part of the function on Friday.

The Jharkhand government has made elaborate security arrangements in view of the International Yoga Day Function which would be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 21 at the Prabhat Tara Grounds.

Ten IPS officers and more than 5,000 police men have been deployed on duty. Apart from the use of drone cameras, metal detectors have been put up at the venue while dog squads have been also positioned at the spot. The SPG will be taking over the security of the venue later in the night. The state police have also made arrangements of bomb disposal squad, tear gas shell units and a company of RAP.

In view of the visit of the Prime Minister, the health department has also made elaborate arrangements with two teams of doctors of RIMS being positioned at the venue along with cardiac ambulances and other life saving facilities and other medical staff.

The traffic police have made several route retsrictions in the city and has prohibited any kind of illegal parking today and tomorrow on the VIP road leading from the airport to the Raj Bhawan via Harmu by-pass. Traffic movement will be restricted on the road leading from Raj Bhawan to Prabhat Tara Grounds from 6 am to 6.30 am on Friday after which the road would be opened for public.

More than 35,000 people will be practising yoga with the Prime Minister. They have been issued pass by the district administration to enable them to enter the venue. The programme will commence from 3 pm. Despite the programme scheduled to be held under open skies, the district administration has also made arrangements to protect people from rains.

For the convenience of the people, 40 LED screens have been put up at the venue for showcasing the programme live along with thousands of speakers. Arrangements of 500 mobile toilets and 50 water tankers have also been made at the spot. Apart from mobile phones and shoes, people will not be allowed to take anything inside the venue.

Is it like taking the clock back because, Yoga is a template that caps physical and respiratory exercise which dates back to centuries embodied in the Indian way of life from time immemorial and it is bit amazing that, at a time when it has already made inroads into billions of hearts, whether an extravaganza of this magnitude is a pressing necessity at taxpayers expense.
