India’s women hockey squad left for Germany

NEW DELHI: The Indian women hockey team led by its skipper Rani Rampal left for Germany on Tuesday for the four-match tournament against host Germany.

The tournament is a part of the preparation for the forthcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

The team toured Argentina recently and played seven matches.

The 18-member team that left for Germany on Tuesday from Bengaluru comprised  goalkeepers Savita and Rajani Etimarpu; defenders Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjit Kaur and  Udita Nisha.

The team further includes midfielders Nikki Pradhan, Monika, Neha, Lilima Minz, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Salima Tete and Navjot Kaur and forwards Rani Rampal (captain) , Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur and Sharmila Devi.

The first match against Germany will be played on February 27 followed by the second match on February 28, third on March 2 and the fourth and final match on March 4, Hockey India has announced.
