Pahalgam Terrorist Attack: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday visited the Police Control Room in Srinagar to pay tributes to the victims of Tuesday’s terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 tourists dead and several others injured.
The bodies of the deceased were flown to Srinagar early Wednesday morning. Officials gathered at the Police Control Room, where floral tributes were offered. Arrangements are underway to send the bodies to their respective native places with full state support.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, met the grieving families of the victims. The leaders assured all necessary assistance and reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure justice for those affected.
To facilitate transport of the deceased and their relatives, the Civil Aviation Ministry deployed four additional flights from Srinagar—two each to Mumbai and Delhi. The ministry is also working to ensure that airfares remain stable amid the travel rush.
Flight arrangements became crucial as the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained shut for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday. The closure, due to landslides and security concerns, has significantly disrupted ground transportation across the Valley.
Security forces launched a massive combing operation in Pahalgam following the attack. Multiple agencies are jointly involved in the search to identify and neutralize the terrorists responsible for the deadly assault on the tourist convoy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “cowardly act” and vowing a decisive crackdown on terrorism. He said the attack had further strengthened India’s commitment to eradicate terrorism from its soil completel. ( SHABD)
