The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Election Commission of India to watch the biopic of the film based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and ruled that that it would then take a call on whether to release the film or ban it.
A bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, asked the poll panel to submit its findings to the apex court by April 22 in sealed cover.
The makers, of the biopic, had moved the Supreme Court challenging the poll panel’s order to stay the release of the film.
They had objected to the stand of the ECI and said the poll watchdog had banned the film without even watching it.
