The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have no developmental agenda and hence it is raking up communal issues, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao said here on Saturday. Speaking to newsmen, he said, “With you have no meaningful agenda in your basket, this will be the problem’’.
He said BJP was harping on Article 370, Terrorism and National Security and other emotional issues but during the last five years it did not attempt to solve the nagging problems the country faced but it only worsened the economic scenario. “In the last five years of rule, the BJP did nothing to resolve the vexed Ayodhya issue, and now talking about building Ram Mandir there” he said.
Referring to the Mahadayi river dispute with Goa, he said that “The prime minister had lost an opportunity to ensure justice to the people of Karnataka, by refusing to mediate over the long pending issue”. “If Congress comes to power, we will resolve the Mahadayi issue with amicable settlement” he said. Criticising that the Saffron party for not fielding candidates belonging to Other Backward communities (OBC) in Karnataka, he said it had exposed itself, “Congress has given representation to all communities, to contest the Lok Sabha elections”.
Maintaining that the Congress party had distanced itself from the separate religion status to Lingayath community in the state, he accused that “it was the BJP leaders who had raised the issue in the past”. Senior Congress leader, Veeranna Mathikatti and others were also present on the occasion. (UNI)
