Now it has really come out into the open in Odisha politics. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s notional bonhomie with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is heading towards a bellicose epilogue as was evident from the prime minister’s verbal onslaughts aimed at Patnaik in his Kendrapada public rally on Tuesday.
Modi who had, so far, not made any of his denunciation by naming Patnaik, today did. And did make it appear like a course correction. Alluding it like an end of the road for Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, Modi for the first time made a departure from the genialities and warned Patnaik, as if, to pack up.
A political or poll time prophesy from Modi was like waging a war and it has been timed some days after Patnaik had predicted no ‘ second chance’ for Modi in an interview to a national channel.
Whether it was political exigency or otherwise, but both the leaders, perhaps, have the realisation that they must depart from the mere satirical yet suggestive innuendoes and make it straight now. That they both have done in which all such elements are contained. That can be seen more as warnings rather than prophesy.
