Textile businessman lynched to death, 65-year-old house owner murdered

Police today arrested a prime suspect, accused of leading a mob to lynch a textile businessman and dumped his body in a club at Maniktala in the northern part of this metropolis, the investigating officers said. The mutilated body of middle age Ratan Karmakar, a vendor of textile goods were found inside the club, few hundreds away from the victim’s business place and home at Hari Saha weekly market. Police also recovered the murdered weapons, like cricket bats and wickets and bamboos from the one-room premises of club at Shivtala math ( ground).
Police today arrested Tapas Saha, also a businessman at the weekly market from his Ultadanga Road in the city.Police also investigating the motive of the murder by organising lynching against a fellow businessman and who was behind the murder.At Maniktala, near Shyambazar, for centuries weekly haat is organised on Sunday and Wednesday, even on busy roads to choke the traffic of the city of north Kolkata.

In another crime of murder, 65-year-old Biswajit Basu’s body was found in his home at Broad Street under Kareya police station last night,police investigating the offence said today.The body had marks of injuries and his house main gate was opened when one of his daughters returned home and found
the mutilated body of her father. The victim was planning to sale his home and had made several
negotiations with many prospective buyers.
The body was sent for post mortem and the police sealed the house.
