Amit Jogi nabbed in affidavit case

Janta Congress Chhattisgarh President and former Marwahi legislator Amit Jogi – erstwhile chief minister Ajit Jogi’s son – was placed under arrest on Tuesday at Marwahi Sadan in this district headquarters on the charge of furnishing erroneous information in an election affidavit, law-enforcement authorities said.

Earlier, a case was registered under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code subsequent to a complaint by Ms Sameera Paikra who unsuccessfully contested from Marwahi as the Bharatiya Janata Party nominee in 2013. Ms Paikra alleged that Amit Jogi’s place of birth – as written in the document – was inaccurate and there was another anomaly as well. Since early Tuesday, Amit Jogi’s residence was deluged with khaki uniforms. (UNI)
