TMC’s senior MP Saugata Roy’s voice sample recorded by CBI in Narada scam

Trinamool Congress senior-most MP Saugata Roy’s voice sample was recorded before the CBI officials probing the Narada sting operation while former minister Madan Mitra deposed before the central investigating officers for the same case, a day after Bengal’s panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee, IPS officer SMH Mirza and Lok Sabha member Prasun Banerjee appeared at Nizam Place in the city.

The CBI had summoned Mr Roy, an MP from Dum Dum Parliament segment, Bengal’s former transport minister Madan Mitra and MLA Iqbal Ahmed to appear today and have their voice recorded separately to determine if they were the same persons, which could be heard in the Narada sting operation. However, Iqbal Ahmed moved to the Calcutta High Court to seek three more weeks time.

Emerging out from the CBI office, Mr Roy told reporters that his coming at Nizam Palace was to respond the summon by the CBI, who recorded his voice samples for several times in front of two witnesses. Answering questions, Mr Roy said he was not (not) aware of the CBI, which has sought approval from the Lok Sabha Speaker to prosecute him in Narada scam case. ” I am not aware of it neither the Speaker told me anything about it ” Mr Roy said.

Media reports said that the CBI has sought formal approval from the Lok Sabha Speaker to prosecute four TMC leaders in Narada case. Besides, Mr Roy, TMC MPs Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Aparupa Poddar and former MP and now state transport minster Suvendu Adhikari.

Sources said the CBI wanted to speed up the investigation after recording all the voices of the 13 accused named in the FIR and send all the sample for forensic tests in headquarters in New Delhi. The CBI on Monday had recorded the voice samples of Panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee and IPS officer SMH Mirza. Before them another MP from Howrah Prasun Banerjee on Saturday deposed before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials in the same case. (UNI)
