Mainak projects Rwitobroto as ‘Goyenda Junior’

Writer- director Mainak Bhaumik is all set with his first detective film ‘Goyenda Junior’. After his last outing ‘Bornoporichay’, Mainak again is stepping out from his comfort genre. He is widely known for telling the stories of relationship with mastery but this is the first time he is going to deliver the ethos of a detective film in a unique way.
Asked when the story started to flourish? Mainak said, “In 2014, I was reading ‘Pandav Goyenda’ by legendary Sasthipada Chattopadhyay. Then I thought of making something new. Earlier, I noticed that all the detectives in Bengali literature like Feluda, Byomkesh, Kakababu, and Kiriti are somehow established detectives. But I somehow wanted to tell a story of the making of a detective. The initial idea came from this point. A Bengali boy, who is adequately sharp then how he transforms as a detective gradually is the film all about.”
Mainak also added that while he was busy shooting ‘Generation Aami’ then he suddenly thought that if he gets any scope to make that detective story then Rwitobroto may fit in the character. Now finally Rwitobroto is in as Bikram.
But while director Mainak tries to show the making of Bikram-The Detective in ‘Goyenda Junior’ then is the franchise of the film in the queue? “If they extend some love for Bikram, then Bikram might come again. As this is my original story, it will force me to write more with Bikram,” Mainak said.To some extent Mainak have added those flavours in his story that he wanted to see in any detective films. So, finally it will not be an out and out detective film but also it will depict the back-story of the boy, Bikram. His life, upbringing, and love interest everything will be there in the film.
Bhaumik, who is better known as a master editor too is on a spree to experiment a lot with his form of art. Earlier he experimented with a thriller and earned mixed reactions. He believes that, “people surely will love movies like ‘ Bibaho Diaries’, or ‘Generation Aami’, or ‘Happy Pill’ as they expect such films from me but now I want to spread my offerings and trying hard to initiate something new.”
‘Goyenda Junior’, produced by SVF, helmed by Mainak Bhaumik and featuring Rwitobroto Mukherjee, Shantilal Mukherjee and Anusha Viswanathan in pivotal roles will hit the screens on September 20. (UNI)
