As many as 78 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the third phase elections to six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha taking the total number to 123 till end of day on Tuesday.
Chief Electoral Office(CEO) sources here said while 71 candidates filed their nominations for Assembly seats, seven candidates filed their nominations for Lok Sabha seats.
With this so far 123 candidates have filed their nominations for the third phase election, 104 of them for Assembly seats and 19 for Lok Sabha seats.
The six Lok Sabha seats going to polls on April 23 next in third phase are Sambalpur, Keonjhar(ST), Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be made on April 5 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on April 8 next.
Nomination for the fourth phase of election for six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats to be held on April 29 next commenced today and would continue till April 9 and scrutiny will held on April 10. April 12 has been fixed as the last date for the withdrawal of candidature.
While no candidates filed nomination for the Assembly seats on the first day of nomination for the fourth phase of election today, only one candidate filed his nomination for the Jajpur Lok Sabha seat today,CEO sources said.
The fourth phase election will be held in Mayurbhanj(ST), Balasore, Bhadrak(SC),Jajpur (SC) ,Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur ( SC) Lok sabha seats and the 42 assembly seats falling under these parliamentary constituencies. (UNI)
