As many as 124 candidates today filed their nomination papers for the third phase elections to six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats in Odisha.
With this, so far 245 candidates had filed their nominations for the third phase election. While 211 filed nomination for the Assembly seats 34 filed nominations for six Lok Sabha seats.
Prominent candidates who filed their nomination today included BJD Cuttack sitting MP Bhartuhari Mahatab, former Odisha DGP and BJP nominee for Cuttack Lok Sabha seat Prakash Mishra and former IAS officer and BJP candidate Aparjita Sharanghi for Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat.
Chief Electoral Office(CEO) sources here said while 109 candidates filed their nominations today for Assembly seats 15 candidates filed their nominations for Lok Sabha seats.
The six Lok Sabha seats going to polls on April 23 next in third phase are Sambalpur, Keonjhar(ST), Dhenkanal, Cuttack, ,Puri and Bhubaneswar.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be made on April 5 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on April 8 next.
Nomination for the fourth phase of election for six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats, to be held on April 29, and which commenced yesterday, would continue till April 9. Scrutiny will held on April 10. April 12 has been fixed as the last date for the withdrawal of candidature.
Fifteen candidates –one for Lok Sabha and 14 for Assembly seats today filed nomination for the fourth phase of election today.
CEO sources said so far 18 candidates filed nominations for Assembly seats and two for Lok Sabha seats for the fourth phase of election to be held on April 29.
The fourth phase election will be held in Mayurbhanj(ST), Balasore, Bhadrak(SC), Jajpur (SC) ,Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur ( SC) Lok sabha seats and the 42 assembly seats falling under these parliamentary constituencies. (UNI)
