BJD announces Meenakshi Mahant as candidate from Champua Assembly seat

The BJD has cleared Meenakshi Mahant to contest from Champua Vidhan Sabha seat for the upcoming polls.

This seat was represented by independent candidate Sanatan Mahakud in 2014 who defeated BJD’s actor-turned-politician Tatwa prakash Satpathy.

BJP has fielded Murali Sharma from Champua while Congress has fielded Jadumani Barik.

It may be mentioned here that the state will go to polls in four phases starting April 11. Polls for the Lok Sabha’s 543 elected seats are being held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Odisha Assembly polls, on the other hand, will be conducted in four phases between April 11 and April 29. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and the results will be declared on the same day.
