In yet another major raid a team of PS
Aberdeen on Tuesday seized nearly 300 bottles of codeine based cough
syrup and arrested one person from Haddo area of Port Blair city.
As more raids have been planned in connection to this raid, more
details regarding this raid were not shared with media at this moment.
“There will be some more raids. At this moment we can’t share more
information,” said a senior police officer of Andaman and Nicobar
Police on the condition of anonymity.
Earlier, in the month of February 101 bottles of codeine cough syrups
were seized by Central Crime Station (CCS) team from Shivram Complex,
Port Blair.
While contraband substances like Ganja, Cough Syrups are ruining
future of Island youths in Andaman, raids like this bring some sense
of relief in Andaman.
Codeine based cough syrups are banned in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
but still huge consignments of these cough syrups are reaching
Andaman.
Andaman and Nicobar Police has now formed teams to understand how
these cough syrups are reaching Andaman, despite of the fact that
Andaman has only two entry points, which are heavily guarded.
