The Andaman and Nicobar unit of Indian
Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that Monsoon will hit these
Islands by May 20.
Although some rainfall due to cyclone Fani has brought temporary
relief for people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, these Islands will
get complete relief from soaring temperature by May 20, with the
the arrival of Monsoon.
Talking to media, Mr Sourish Bandyopadhyay, the officer in charge of
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), A & N Islands said that
generally, monsoon enters these Islands by May 20th and even this year
monsoon is expected in the same period.
“Like last year, Monsoon would be normal,” he added.
This year people in Andaman and Nicobar Islands had witnessed
temperature rising up to 37 degree Celsius, which is the highest in
past several years and hence everyone seems to be waiting for the arrival
of Monsoon in Andaman.
