Apex Court allows petitioner to send his suggestion to Centre on Assam-Meghalaya border dispute

The Supreme Court on Monday asked social worker, T H S Bonney, to send his suggestion and other issues to the Union of India (UOI) in connection with his matter pertaining to a time bound commission to resolve the boundary dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.

A bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi asked the petitioner, Bonney to send representation to the Centre.

The Supreme Court also made clear that if the petitioner Bonney is not satisfied with the Centre’s order or notification, he may approach the concerned court to seek his grievances.

The petition said, “The Centre and state governments have to take serious action for permanent demarcation of the boundary of two states i.e. Meghalaya and Assam so that people residing in the border area will not face hardships and atrocities just because of the border problem.” (UNI)
