Battle-ready BJP braces up for the showdown of 2019

Armed with the crucial party tickets for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, most BJP candidates and key party leaders were ready for the battle of the ballot on Thursday evening.
“I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah for giving me the opportunity to fight from Amethi. It will be a matter of great pride and honour for me to make Lotus bloom in Amethi,” Union Minister Smriti Irani tweeted in Hindi.
“Congratulations to all the candidates announced by BJP. Let us together work for Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar by ensuring lotus bloom in every constituency,” she wrote.
Former BJD leader Baijayant Jay Panda, who joined the saffron outfit recently, said he feels honoured to have been nominated from Kendrapara parliamentary constituency.
“I seek support and blessings of the people of Kendrapada to represent and work for them,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, BJP also released the first list of candidates for 100 assembly segments for polls in Odisha.
P C Mohan, who has been nominated from Bengaluru Central seat, tweeted to say – “I will file my nomination as BJP candidate for Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha Constituency at 12 noon on Friday, March 22, 2019. I look forward to your support”.
In Karnataka, BJP on Thursday reposed faith in A Manju, an influential minister in the previous Siddaramaiah government, to contest against JD(S) candidate Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda.
Revanna’s father H D Revanna is also a sitting MLA from the same Hassan district.
The party has finally also decided to field a former Congress leader Umesh Jadhav against senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge. (UNI)
