To create talent, the West Bengal Government had decided to set up an animation academy at Sector V in Salt Lake, on a 1.5-acre plot at DP Block. The Centre of Excellence in Innovation, as the academy will be called, is being set up jointly by the IT&E Department and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology.
The academy will offer a three-year BSc degree course.The State Government wanted to create a talent pool in these fields as they are growing exponentially every year.
