Bi-lateral series: Indian Women's Hockey beat S Korea 2-1

A determined Indian Women’s Hockey Team overcame the challenge posed by hosts S Korea as they beat them 2-1 in their opening match at the three-match Bi-lateral series here on Monday.

After missing out on an opportunity to score through a PC early in the first quarter, India converted a splendid field goal through young striker Lalremsiami in the 10th minute giving the hosts 1-0 lead.

The visitors second goal came in the 40th minute when Navneet Kaur struck beautifully that took India’s lead to 2-0.

While the host team won five PCs in the course of the match, including a penalty stroke in the last quarter, they managed to convert only one PC in 48th minute through Shin Hyejeong.

However, it was India’s experienced goalkeeper Savita who made commendable saves to keep her team in lead throughout the match and won their opening match 2-1.

India will play their second match against the hosts on Wednesday.
