Biswabhusan Harichandan takes oath as AP Governor

Biswabhusan Harichandan took oath as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh here on Wednesday.
High Court Chief Justice C Praveen Kumar administered the oath of office to  Harichandan at a function held in the Raj Bhavan here. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Assembly Speaker T Sitaram, Cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary L V Subramanyam and DGP Gautam Sawang were among a host of dignitaries present on the occasion.
Previously, ESL Narasimham acted as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.   Harichandan is the first Governor of the Andhra Pradesh State to assume office in the capital city after the bifurcation. The Chief Minister’s camp office, located in the heart of the city here, was refurbished and made as Raj Bhavan for the new Governor.
Harichandran was born on August 3, 1934 and completed post-graduation in economics. He joined the Bharatiya Janasangh in 1971. He comes with a rich experience in public life and is a renowned writer, lawyer, scholar and was instrumental and inspirational in the drafting Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RR) policy of the Government.
