BJP alleges Odisha minister’s role in murder of former block chairman, demands CBI probe

The Odisha unit of BJP has demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of former Ghasipura MLA Candidate and former Anandpur Block Chairman Ramachandra Behera on the night of March 25 last near his house at Dhakota in Keonjhar distict.

A delegation of the BJP led by BJP state Vice President Samir Mohanty in a memorandum to the state DGP demanded the murder case be handed over to CBI.

Mr Mohanty said, the son of a minister and some activists of the ruling BJD were involved in the murder and demanded that the Minister, his son and the Private Secretary to Chief Minister should be brought under the purview of the inquiry and their call records be examined.

Meanwhile, the family members of deceased Behera have also demanded an impartial probe into the murder by the CBI and exemplary punishment to all the accused involved in the incident.

The former Anandpur Block chairman, who had unsuccessfully contested the Ghasipura Assembly seat in the past as an independent candidate, was tipped to contest the Assembly election this time and was all set to join the BJD. (UNI)
