The Union Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Nodi, on Wednesday announced the launch of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III), under which 1,25,000 km road length will be consolidated at an estimated cost Rs 80,250 crore.
In a Cabinet briefing, jointly addressed by Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, Narendra Singh Tomar and Santosh Kumar Gangwar, it was announced that the scheme will also include Through Routes and Major Rural Links that connect habitations to Gramin Agricultural Markets, Higher Secondary Schools and Hospitals.
Mr Javadekar said this would facilitate easy and faster movement to Gramin Agricultural Markets, Higher Secondary Schools and Hospitals.
