Chowski surrenders before High Commission in Guyana

Sources in New Delhi confirmed on Monday that wanted diamond trader Mehul Choksi has surrendered his Indian passport to the High Commission in Guyana.
Sources asserted that India continues its efforts through legal and diplomatic channels to pursue Choksi’s return from Antigua.
”It may be kept in mind that whenever an Indian citizen acquires foreign nationality, he is expected to surrender his Indian passport. Indian continues to pursue Choksi’s return with the Government of Antigua through diplomatic and legal channels,” sources said.
Choksi and his nephew, Nirav Modi, left India about a year ago, just before their involvement in a major financial scam in the public sector Punjab National Bank (PNB) was unearthed. Choksi was subsequently located in the Caribbean island of Antigua.(UNI)
