A devastating cloudburst triggered flash flood at Kaspi under Singchung, an ADC headquarters in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday afternoon, sweeping away a couple and a small culvert along the Bhalukpong-Tenga road, besides damaging over a dozen houses and a State-run residential school.

Kanchi Mosbu, who was swept away, is still remained missing, while her husband Pema Mosbu, who somehow managed to save his life but sustained grievous injuries, was later rushed to a hospital.

After the incident, the local administration evacuated the injured man and the affected children of the Government Residential School, Kaspi, besides engaging its men and material resources for restoration of the surface communication from Bomdila to Kaspi on war footing.

In the aftermath of the disaster, the administration along with the Maratha Light Infantry of Indian Army evacuated the injured Pema Mosbu to the Military Hospital at Dahung.

The children of the Government Residential School Kaspi have been evacuated and sheltered at the Singchung inspection bungalow (IB). The BRTF has succeeded in restoring the 35-km-long road from the district headquarters, Bomdila to Kaspi for vehicular traffic.

With the BCT (Bhalukpong-Charduar-Tenga) road remaining closed, the commuters travelling to and fro Tezpur, Itanagar, Guwhati, Bomdila and Tawang have been advised to take the OKSRT (Orang-Kalaktang- Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga) road to avert any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Thrizino-Buragaon MLA Kumsi Sidisow while talking to reporters outside the Assembly expressed his grief over the incident, and informed that the matter has been apprised to the Chief Minister, who in turn gave direction to the Singchung administration to carry out assessment of property damages at the earliest.
