Cong revamp before LS polls, new chief in TN

New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) The Congress, on Saturday, reconstituted the Tamil Nadu state unit and appointed a number of committees in Lakshdweep to look after the election process before the Lok Sabha elections.

In a press release issued by AICC general secretary, organisation-in-charge KC Venugopal said that the party has appointed KS Alagiri as president of Tamil Nadu Pradesh Congress.

H.Vasantha Kumar, K.Jayakumar, MK Vishnu Prasad and Mayura Jayakumar were appointed as working presidents.

“The party appreciates the contribution of outgoing TNCC president Thirunavakkarasar,” the release stated.

In Lakshadweep, the party appointed new chiefs and members for different committees.

While former MP Hamdullah Sayeed will be appointed chairman of coordination committee and pradesh election committee, Achada Ahmed will lead the campaign committee, MI Cheriya Koya will be the chairman of the publicity committee and B Hassan will be the new chief for media coordination committee.

Ms Mariyam Bibi and Miani Dalbot Shira were appointed as working presidents for Mahila Congress in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Meghalaya respectively.

While Raj Kamal was appointed as the national convener, LDMRC, in the AICC SC department, Raju Bichhole was made the North Zonal coordinator (Dalit Shakti).
