Country went through ‘Super Emergency’ last five years : Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today claimed that the country went though a “Super Emergency” for the last five years.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Ms Banerjee, who is also the chairperson of Trinamool Congress, said ” Today is the anniversary of the Emergency declared in 1975. For the last five years, the country went through a ‘Super Emergency’. We must learn lessons from our history and fight to safeguard the democratic institutions in the country.”

Though she did not mention under whom the country had ‘Super Emergency’ for past five years, but her opposition to Narendra Modi’s policies, both politically and economically, it was obvious that Ms Banerjee is indicating her point to Mr Modi, who has been the Prime Minister of India since 2014.

BJP state president Dilip Ghosh slammed Ms Banerjee, saying the chief minister was virtually a dictator as under her government even a meeting or a rally was not allowed. He said it was the Congress when the emergency was declared in mid 70s, then she (Banerjee) was in that party and now she almost follow to rule the state where the oppositions have no right even to hold a rally.
