Cyclonic storm MAHA: Fishermen warned not to venture into sea

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 (UNI) In the wake of cyclonic storm MAHA, fishermen are advised for total suspension of fishing operations over Comorin-Maldives,  Lakshadweep area and along and off Kerala-Karnataka coasts during next 48 hours. Sea conditions will be high to very high over Comorin-Maldives area and very rough to high along and off Kerala- Karnataka coasts during next 48 hours, a MeT statement said here on Thursday.

The fishermen are advised not to venture into southeast Arabian Sea till October 31 and over eastcentral Arabian Sea till November 4. High waves in the range of 3.0 -5.0 meters are forecasted during 1730 hrs on October 30 to 2330 hrs of November 1 along the coast of Lakshadweep Islands from Minicoy to Bitra. High waves in the range of 3.5 – 4.3 meters are forecasted during 1730 hours on October 30 to 2330 hrs of November 1 along the coast of Kerala from Pozhiyoor to Kasargod.

An orange alert was issued in Lakshadweep citing Deep Depression, which intensified into Cyclonic Storm MAHA.
